Record: Yuri – Inusual
Ya Para Que
.
June 22, 2010 marked the release of Yuri’s ‘Inusual’ album. The 24th record in her 30 year career. It ended it’s first day of release at #1 on the iTunes chart and has received many great initial reviews. Based on comments on her fan pages on Facebook and the Univision fan forums, the record is being extrememly well received and is the kind of record her fans have been waiting for. I have no doubt is will bring her a new generation of fans as well.
The record is a collection of original songs and covers and features my usual compliment of musicians (Charlie Morgan – drums, Lee Sklar – bass and Tim Pierce – guitars) along with the great addition of Michael Thompson playing guitar.
The album was recorded and mixed in LA and the vocal recording took place in Mexico City. Rafa Sardina mixed the album. As the success of the album seemed likely, we were quickly asked to record a theme song for the hit Latin series ‘Mujeres Asesinas.’ My understanding is that the third season of the show begins sometime in the summer of 2010 and will feature the new song written by Samo, of the group Camila (who also wrote Arrepentida, the first single on the record)
