Angelica Vale
I’ve been asked to do an album for Angelica Vale. She is a Mexican actress, comedienne and singer. The album is a tribute to her mother, Angelica Maria who has been extremely well known as an actress and singer in Mexico and Latin America since the early ’60′s. The songs are beautiful and I’m looking forward to working with Angelica next week as we finish up her vocals. The album should be released in Mexico just in time for Mother’s Day. Tim Pierce, of course, will be playing guitar, Charlie Morgan, drums and Leland Sklar is holding down the low end again. I’m always so happy to get to work with these guys!

Zendaya
Dig Down Deeper
I was asked to produce a song for Zendaya from the Disney Channel’s ‘Shake It Up.’ The song “Dig Down Deeper” will appear both in the TV special and as a single. The song should debut on Radio Disney and the Disney Channel in late October or early November and the show airs on the Disney Channel on Nov 19. The song-writers are my friends Bendan Milburn and Valerie Vagoda who have written for the other Tink films as well.

Another Latin project for Warner Mexico. This is a group of 4 guys. Young, good looking and they all sing great! We’re doing an album of covers to introduce them. The songs are were all big hits but the artists that recorded them have all faded into the vague recesses of people’s memories. It’s really exciting to be working with another young group. I’ve changed up the band a little this time.
Tim Pierce is still the heart of the band (he’s got a great new website – check it out!). James Harrah will be playing on a few tracks. He’s a great addition to the team. Nate Morton is playing drums and Reggie Hamilton will be playing bass. I haven’t worked with James for a long time and it’s great to get reacquainted. Nate and Reggie are new for me. Ironically, I saw Reggie play at a jazz club in LA with my good friend Cheryl Bentyne of the Manhattan Transfer about a week for before I started thinking about the players for this record. He was recommended to me and I jumped at it. He played one of the hottest upright bass solos I’ve ever heard. I can’t wait to be in the room with him working on the record. This record should be out in late May or early June.

Alexander Acha
Amiga
A project I’m really excited about is working with Alexander Acha. This will be his second record following the double platinum success of his debut album “Voy.” Alexander has written all of the songs and is an amazingly talented guy. It’s a fun collaboration working his him to find a unique voice for each of his songs. He comes from a famous family being the son of Latin Superstar Emmanuel. I met both of them during my trip to Mexico last spring. They whole family has welcomed me with open arms and this is shaping up to be a very special record. Once again, Tim Pierce, Charlie Morgan and Lee Sklar will be playing along with George Doering and some other great players. The record is mixed, master and will be released in mid June 2011.
